Robust privacy

Your data is completely private at every point in your interaction with email-checker.com. Any information that you upload, input or store to email-checker.com is for your eyes only. Once you leave the service, your data is permanently destroyed including any live databases and text file uploads. All backup files are deleted within seven days of you quitting the service.

Email-checker.com is an online service. There is no software for you to install and you don’t need to have a degree in IT or rocket science to get to grips with all those complicated configuration screens that our competitors seem to provide .

Thorough checks

Just like sending emails (e.g. think about the bounce /rejects and “cannot deliver” messages that you’ve seen in your email inbox) , checking email addresses is not an exact science. To check an email address, we connect to target email servers and ask the question “does this email address exist?”. Most email servers play nicely and reply with yes/no. However, some email servers and services either don’t respond, timeout or provide deliberately incorrect responses to the question. Additionally, there is the problem of spam management and email servers increasingly turning to grey listing technologies in the fight to reduce spam. For all of these reasons, checking email addresses is a complex and it’s simply not possible to check emails with 100% accuracy.

Although 100% accuracy is not possible, email-checker.com is designed and built with all of the above issues in mind to deliver the best possible accuracy of any email checking service and software. The service is built with a detailed awareness and process modules capable of detecting and dealing with (where possible):

• Email servers with grey listing spam protection.
• Email servers configured to respond with incorrect responses (e.g. some implementations of Microsoft Exchange).
• Webmail providers configured to reject email address validation (e.g. Yahoo, Live, Hotmail).

Email-checker.com accepts any text file containing email addresses. This includes, but is not limited to:

De-duplicate email lists

As part of the import process, we eliminate email addresses that are duplicated. Additionally, all email addresses that are clearly not email addresses (e.g. “xyz@” or “n/a”) are dropped and removed during import.

Best possible accuracy

Checking email addresses is not an exact science and cannot be 100% accurate (see above). However, with a combination of intelligent process design and the simple fact that our service is fixed point on the internet (i.e. Static IP’s, DNS, standard email services) we can promise you the best possible accuracy in email address validation.

No risk to you IP address

If you run email services or similar (i.e. email address checking services) from your computer, did you know that it’s all to easy to have your IP blacklisted?

Blacklists are central databases of IP addresses that have either exhibited spam like behaviour or have large number of user complaints for “spamming”. Spamhaus and Spamcop are examples of blacklist databases that are used extensively by mail servers to check for and filter our spam email.

If you run mail services such as bulk mailers or bulk email validation software from your home of office, the chances are that your IP address will already be tagged as “suspicious” by mail servers. For example, any dynamic IP such as those assigned by most Internet Service Providers (ISP) are flagged as “suspicious” if you try directly sending emails to an email server. Try sending bulk emails or doing bulk email validation using a desktop based validation and mail servers will file your IP address with blacklists faster than you can say “why can’t I get my email delivered anymore”?

If your IP get’s blacklisted it potentially affects your ability to send and receive emails in general. Blacklisting is usually temporary and lasts for just a few hours but, how would the loss of email affect your business if you lost outbound email for say 6 hours? Think about this if you are considering running desktop based email validation software.

The good news is that email-checker.com does not put your IP at risk. Email-checker.com servers process your queries on your behalf using our server IP’s. There is absolutely no risk to your IP address.
